When did you join Siem Offshore and what is your position?
I joined Siem Offshore in 2016 as a HR analyst. Now I am working as crew manager for our vessels Siem Helix 1 and Siem Helix 2.

As HR analyst, I was responsible for the training department for the Siem Helix-vessels and the other Brazilian flagged vessels. I also assisted with audits attendance, trainee and cadet programs, implementation of the HR system and other logistic related matters.

As crew manager, I am responsible for supporting local crew members on subjects such as hiring processes, logistics, medical exams, endorsements, appraisals, trainings, contract requirements and other internal procedures.

What do you find most interesting with your job?
The best part of my job is all the good people I get to work with and talk to every day. To me, the people, both offshore and onshore, is the most important we have in the company. In my job I am working closely with the crew, and many of them have become close friends and like family to me. I learn new things from them everyday, it is never a dull moment.

I also like that we are a global company with a global mindset, and that we all work closely together.

How has your journey been since you started in Siem Offshore, and what skills have you developed?
Since day 1 in Siem Offshore, I have had great people around me and great mentors who have taught me a lot.

Due to the Covid-pandemic, it has also been challenging, as it posed severe challenges for us and especially our seafarers. However, this period really taught me to think outside of the box to find the right solutions, and thanks to the excellent team, both onshore and offshore, we made it work, and we learned a lot from it.

What has been your greatest achievement in Siem Offshore so far?
Being promoted to crew manager is my so far greatest achievement. I didn’t expect it at that time, so I was a bit surprised, but so excited! I love being able to work so closely with the crew aboard my vessels, and I learn new things from them every day – not only about them – but also about the projects and the technical things related to the vessels, and that is important to me.

What would you tell others who want to apply for a job in Siem Offshore?
Just do it – we are a great international and diverse team you want to be a part of. We talk to each other, we see the people and we always help and support each other.
